Diamond Ball is a one-day charity softball tournament hosted by the Beta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi on the UBC Athletic Fields in support of the Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon, the Ronald McDonald House Endowment Challenge, and the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation. The Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon provides a home-away-from-home for sick children and their families while undergoing treatment in Vancouver. This amazing organization is Alpha Delta Pi's international philanthropy, however, only 40% of the houses have a local and active Alpha Delta Pi Chapter to help provide support. The Ronald McDonald House Charities Endowment Challenge will soon allow any Ronald McDonald House around the globe to apply for a grant from the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, thus allowing support even without a local Alpha Delta Pi Chapter. The Alpha Delta Pi Foundation helps fund leadership education, sexual assault prevention, historic preservation, as well as philanthropic support to all Alpha Delta Pi Chapters throughout Canada and the United States. Last year we volunteered hundreds of hours with the children and families staying at the Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon, and in 2019 we were able to donate more than $20,000 from Diamond Ball alone. Although we had to cancel Diamond Ball 2020 due to COVID-19, we hope to contribute even more to this wonderful cause this year!
